Monitors, tablets, phones, etc displays are RBG and have a light source behind the artwork. Printed materials and large format printers are CMYK and have a reflective light source. Although conversion software is getting better at reproducing RBG artwork; however, there is a chance that a color shift may occur and you may not be satisfied with your job.
What resolution should my images be?
Most images found on websites are low-resolutions (72 dpi). Although, they look large and great on your monitor, in print, it is best to use images that are 300 dpi. It is always best to place your images at 100% of the size you intend them to be.
What is bleed?
The bleed (artwork) must extend past the cut-line and will be trimmed from the product during the final cutting phase. When the image is required to extend all the way to the edge, bleed is needed to preserve the finished look and the quality of the final product. It is recommended to have the bleeds set to +.125” on all necessary sides.
What is Rich or Pro Black?
Rich black is an ink mixture of solid black, 100% K, with additional CMY ink values. This results in a darker tone than black ink alone. If you print black alone as 100% K, the resulting black may not be as dark as you might like.
